Immigration In Focus: President Bush signs The Secure Fence Act

OCTOBER 26, 2006 - Today, President Bush Signed The Secure Fence Act - An Important Step Forward In Our Nation's Efforts To Control Our Borders And Reform Our Immigration System. Earlier this year, the President laid out a strategy for comprehensive immigration reform. The Secure Fence Act is one part of this reform, and the President will work with Congress to finish the job and pass the remaining elements of this strategy.

As you know, our Chairman KV Kumar has been a member of the National Advisory Council of the U.S. Small Business Administration. KV has added another feather to his cap.

In recognition of his contributions to the Small Business Administration, KV was appointed to the Executive Committee of the National Advisory Council.

KV was also unanimously elected as the Chairman of the International Trade Committee of the National Advisory Council. Please note that there are a number of highly credentialed people serving on this committee.

USIACC Board joins me in congratulating KV on this occasion and for his dedication to small business and its owners. In USA, we have over 23 million small businesses, and if one third of these are trained to go global,  our deficit in balance of trade ( now over 1.5 trillion dollars) can be controlled. While we need a lot KVs to achieve this, KV is an example of "the difference one person can make".

Once again, congratulations on this well deserved appointment.
